The next day, against the Braves, Roy got exactly no hits. The Knights won, but against the Dodgers in Brooklyn on Tuesday he went hitless once more and they lost. Since he had never before gone without a hit more than six times in a row there was talk now of a slump … He told himself not to worry about a slump — it happened to the very best — but after a third day without even a bingle he couldn’t help but worry.

No slumps in the National League West so far this season. The Brooklyn Los Angeles Dodgers are enjoying an impressive 18-5 at home and 16-12 in road gamesĀ (the Chicago Cubs are slaughtering them in a four-game road series that mercifully ends this evening). Rounding out the NL West are the San Francisco Giants in second, with San Diego, Arizona, and Colorado rounding out the top five slots.
I am not fond of the American League for a legion of reasons, the most cited being their ridiculous designated hitter rule andĀ smaller ballparks than the NL, but despite these misgivings I still keep an eye on the AL West every season and so far the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are holding a number two lead just under Texas but the Seattle Mariners are closing in on them pretty quick.
Game Four of the Dodgers-Cubs matchup will be broadcast at 5:00 PM PST this afternoon, live from Wrigley Field.

Update Rodger, the Dodgers beat the Cubbie’s last night like taking a walk in the park.
And our Roy Hobbs, who in this present incarnation is referred to as Manny Ramirez, will be back in July to help wrap things up for the LA Dodgers.

Yes, I watched the Dodgers even up the series with the Cubbies last night but was too tired to update this post afterwards.
I feel bad for Juan Pierre when Ramirez returns; the guy is doing good as a replacement for Manny (maybe not so much on offense but his defense work is stellar); he will be sent back to the dugout to sit out the rest of the season after proving himself a capable player.

I know it’s off subject, but I just wanted to say I like the new site design.

I like it too, Zel. It’s very mellow and calming, easy on the eyes, and nicely organized.
